A man has been charged with the alleged murder of a prominent Vietnamese lawyer at a Bankstown cafe last month.
Investigators will allege the 38-year-old shot Mr Ho a number of times at close range in what is understood to be a targeted hit.
The shooting occurred in broad daylight as Mr Ho sat at the Happy Cup Cafe.
Homicide detectives arrested the man about 10.00am on Tuesday at Sydney International Airport as he was trying to leave the country on a flight bound for Bali.
Sources told the ABC the arrest was unplanned and police moved in when the man's passport triggered an alert, or what is known as an airport stop, as he passed through customs.
He was taken to Mascot Police Station where he spent most of the day being questioned and then charged.
Strike Force Eugene detectives also executed a search warrant at a home in Hammondville, where they seized items relevant to the investigation.
The man was refused bail to appear at Central Local Court on Wednesday.
Mr Ho, aged in his 60s, died on the side of a Bankstown Road, after being shot several times about 3:40pm on January 23 in what police described as a "targeted attack".
Witnesses described hearing at least three gunshots and saw a man running away down nearby Stewart Lane.
Father of five was prominent lawyer
CCTV footage from a business nearby showed the alleged killer wearing a baseball cap and fluorescent shirt with a dull green jacket over the top.
Mr Ho, a father of five who lived in Randwick, was a prominent criminal lawyer, and his death has shocked Sydney's Vietnamese community.
Mr Ho came to Australia in the 1980s after fleeing Vietnam during the war.
Friends said he was a divisive figure in the community, and a strong voice for social justice.
Witnesses reported hearing three gunshots on the street, which is near Bankstown train station and is a major artery for the suburb in Sydney's west.
At the time, Homicide Squad Commander Detective Superintendent Scott Cook said police were examining links to Mr Ho's work and his daylight murder.
