Man arrested after woman 'stabbed in head and neck with fork' in busy Dublin restaurant

A woman was hospitalised after she was allegedly stabbed in the head and neck in a Blanchardstown restaurant.

The incident took place at a well-known diner in the Blanchardstown Retail Park on Monday evening.

The woman, who is in her early 20s, was taken to nearby Connolly Hospital and treated for minor injuries following the attack, Dublin Live reports.

A garda spokeswoman said a man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

She said: "Gardaí are investigating an assault incident that occurred in a restaurant in the Blanchardstown Retail Park on 1/7/19 at approximately 8:45pm.

"A woman in her early 20s received minor injuries to her head and neck allegedly caused by a fork.

"She was taken to Connolly Hospital as a precaution.

"A man aged in his 30s was subsequently arrested and detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station.

"He has been charged in relation to the incident and is due to appear before Blanchardstown District Court on the morning of 03/07/2019."
