Man arrested after the death of mother and 2 children in Ballinteer, Dublin

A man in his 30s has been arrested as part of the investigation into the murder of a mother and her two children in Dublin.

The investigation started after three bodies were found at Llewellyn Court, Rathfarnham in south Dublin on 28 October.

Affira Syed, 11, six-year-old Fazam and their mother Seema Banu Syed were discovered in a house.

A man in his 30s has now been arrested in connection with the case, and is being held at Dundrum garda station.

Gardaí said in a statement that a man in his 30s was arrested today and is being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Dundrum Garda Station.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí investigating the murder of a female adult and 2 children at a domestic dwelling at Llywellen Court, Ballinteer on 28th October 2020 have today, Saturday 28th November 2020, arrested a male in his 30s.

"He is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Dundrum Garda Station.

"Investigations are ongoing."

Detectives have urged anyone with information to contact the investigation team at Dundrum Garda station on 01 6665600 or any garda station.
