Man released after police find woman's death at Melbourne home was not suspicious

Homicide detectives have released a man after determining the death of a woman at a home in Melbourne's east was not suspicious.

Emergency service workers were called at about 5:30pm Saturday to a house on John Street, Lilydale.

A woman, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene, and a 46-year-old Lilydale man was assisting police with enquiries.

On Sunday afternoon, police said the man had been released and after a post-mortem examination the death was no longer being treated as suspicious.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
