A man has been arrested after police were forced to evacuate a Salford street over a suspected 'grenade' found inside a house.
Emergency services descended on New Street, Swinton, last night (November 1) after police had been dealing with another incident.
Officers had been called out over concerns for the welfare of a man, before finding what was believed to be a grenade at around 8pm.
Four fire engines raced out to the street, off the A666 Bolton Road, to help police evacuate residents from their properties.

A police cordon was put in place, before a bomb disposal team arrived on the scene.
But the item was found to be 'non-viable' by bomb disposal experts, and now a 51-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of an explosives offence and wasting police time.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police responding to a report of a concern for the welfare of a man attended a property around 8pm on Monday, November 1 2021, on New Street, Swinton.
"Officers attended and located the man and following enquiries a possible grenade was uncovered at the property.
"Following an assessment by bomb disposal officers, the grenade was found to be non-viable.
"A 51-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of an offence under the explosive act and for wasting police time.
"He remains in custody for questioning."
