Man appears in court charged with murder after another dies in Bathgate ‘disturbance’

A man has appeared in court charged with murdering another person at a house in Bathgate.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Falside Crescent at around 8pm on Monday following reports of a ‘disturbance’.

Keith Allan, 42, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene with a man charged in connection a short time later.

Dean Martin has now appeared in private at Livingston Sheriff Court facing one count of murder.

The 32-year-old, of no fixed abode, made no plea and was remanded in custody pending a further court appearance within the next eight days.

His case was committed for further examination.

Officers yesterday announced that they were treating the death of Mr Allan as murder following the results of a post mortem.

A police guard remained at the property where a dying 51-year-old woman was found weeks earlier.

There were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death according to Police Scotland.

Detective Inspector Brian Manchester said: “Our thoughts are with his family, friends and everyone affected by this tragic incident.

“Local residents may continue to see a police presence in the area but this is being treated as a contained incident and there was no risk to the wider public at any time.”
