Man and woman in their 60s identified as pair found dead in Rhondda house

Police have confirmed that two people found dead inside a property in the Rhondda yesterday were a man and a woman in their 60s.

South Wales Police, the Welsh Ambulance Service and South Wales Fire and Rescue were called to a property on High Street, Cymmer, in Rhondda, just before 11am on Sunday May 30th.

Investigations are ongoing into the deaths, however, they are not being treated as suspicious.

Police have confirmed that the two people found at the property were a 68 year old man and a 61 year old woman.

The full identities of the pair have yet to be released as has the relationship between the two people.

Witnesses at the scene reported that there are about three police cars, an ambulance and a fire engine parked at the scene near Cymmer Primary School.

Police forensics and utility gas van were also pictured at the scene.

Detective Chris Grey said: “Investigations into the deaths are still ongoing and various tests are being carried out.

“We are treating the deaths as unexplained at this time. The next of kin have been informed and we are supporting the family to come to terms with this tragic incident.”

HM Coroner has been informed.
