Man airlifted to hospital after van crashes into building in Scottish town

A MAN has been airlifted to hospital after a van crashed into a building in Banffshire late last night.

Police were called to the Yardie area of Buckie at around 11.55pm on Tuesday following reports that a van had crashed into a building.

Emergency services attended the incident and the 40-year-old male driver of the van was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.

His condition is currently unknown.

Police said road closures were in place following the incident as a structural assessment of the building needs to be carried out.

Officers added that enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Road closures are in place around the Yardie area of Buckie, after a vehicle struck a building around 11.55pm on Tuesday, 26 May, 2026.

“The 40-year-old male driver was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment and enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing.

“Residents are thanked for their patience as a structural assessment takes place.”
