SEARCHES are being carried out for a missing 76-year-old walker who was last seen three days ago in the Glenfinnan area of the Highlands.
Ian Currie set off on the Cape Wrath Trail on Tuesday morning and was expected to arrive at Inverie Bunkhouse on the Knoydart peninsula, Lochaber, on Thursday, but did not appear.
Police are seeking information from the public to help trace him.
He is described as white, around 6ft, of medium build with white hair.
He wears glasses and is believed to have last been wearing a black waterproof jacket and carrying a green rucksack and a green tent.
Currie is an experienced walker but police have warned that the area can be challenging, particularly in poor weather conditions.
Mountain rescue teams are checking the route for any signs of Currie with assistance from a coastguard helicopter.
Inspector Craig Johnstone said: “Ian is a keen walker, but this terrain can be challenging, especially in difficult weather.
“I am appealing to anyone who may have been walking in this area who may have seen or met Ian to get in touch with us. Any small piece of information could assist us in locating him.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3967 of September 18.
