A man in his 70s has died after a crash between a truck and a car in Co Mayo.
The tragic accident happened around 9:45am on Saturday, June 13, on the N5 at Belleek, Castlebar.
The driver of the car, a man in his 70s, was taken by ambulance to Mayo University Hospital in a critical condition and sadly passed away on Sunday as a result of his injuries.
The road was closed for a time for a forensic collision examination but reopened on Saturday evening.
Gardaí in Castlebar are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
They are also appealing for any road users travelling in the area at the time who may have camera footage including dash-cam to make this footage available to Gardaí.
