It is believed he suffered fatal injuries in a fall, the rescue team said.

In a Facebook post, the team said it is believed the pensioner set off for a walk on his own on Thursday morning.

When he failed to return home, his son alerted authorities.

Rescue team searchers were sent out as well as specialist dog units and the coastguard.

In a Facebook post the team added: "In the early hours of the morning the man was found, but tragically he had sustained fatal injuries from a fall. Our deepest thoughts and condolences go to his family and friends."
