Man, 65, accused of sexually assaulting boys over 28 years

A 65-year-old man is accused of sexually assaulting young boys over a 28-year period.

Trevor Ainslie was investigated by detectives following claims he molested children of different ages, leading to his arrest.

The Wirral man, of Berrylands Close, Moreton, was charged today in connection with that enquiry.

Police said he allegedly committed 17 separate historical offences.

The most recent allegation is around abuse said to have happened 16 years ago.

Twelve charges relate to alleged offences of indecent assault on a boy under 14.

Two more charges of indecent assault were on a boy under 16, it is alleged.

And Ainslie is also accused of two counts of inciting a child under 16 to commit an act of gross indecency.

All charges relate to offences which allegedly occurred between 1976 and 2004.

Ainslie will appear at Wirral Magistrates Court on Wednesday, February 19.
