Man, 59, fighting for his life after being hit by driver on busy south side road

A man is fighting for his life after being hit by a driver in Glasgow's south side.

The 59-year-old pedestrian was hit near to the junction with Holmbank Avenue, just off Kilmarnock Road, around 11.30pm on Friday.

He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The 30-year-old driver of a Ford Fiesta was uninjured.

The road was closed for several hours following the incident while enquiries were undertaken.

Detectives are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage to come forward.

Sergeant Kenny Malaney, from the Greater Glasgow Road Policing Unit, said: “We’re appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or was in the area around that time and may have potential dashcam footage, to please come forward.

“If you believe you can assist our enquiries, please call 101, quoting incident 4320 of 4 March.”
