Man, 40s, 'seriously' injured following shooting in Blakestown, west Dublin

A man has been seriously injured following a shooting incident in west Dublin.

The man, aged in his 40s, was shot several times in the stomach.

His injuries are described as 'serious', but not life threatening.

It is understood that the incident occurred on the Blakestown Road, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15.

The shooting is understood to have taken place at around 5.20pm on Saturday.

Locals have reported a large garda presence in the area, along with the garda helicopter.

Gardai and emergency services remain at the scene.

In a statement a garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are at the scene of a shooting on Blakestown Road, Blanchardstown that occurred at approximately 5.20pm today 1 June 2019.

"A male in his 40’s has been taken to hospital. No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing."
