Man, 39, stabbed in common close of Ayr flats and left with serious injuries

A man has been left in hospital with serious injuries following a stabbing in Ayr last night.

The 39-year-old was attacked in a common close in the town's Glenmuir Road at around 7.40pm.

Police said his injuries are not thought to be life threatening after he was stabbed in the stomach with an unknown implement.

The suspect is described as white, with a local accent. He was wearing dark clothing and a baseball cap.

DC Paul McRoberts of Ayrshire police said: "Officers were called at around 7.40pm to an address in Glenmuir Road following reports of a man being attacked in a common close area.

"A 39-year-old man was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Ayr with serious injuries.

"They are not thought to be life threatening and he remains in hospital for treatment.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information in regards to the incident should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 3254 of November 19th."
