Ann Widdecombe: Man, 28, charged with murder of former Tory MP

  • Ms Widdecombe, 78, was found dead on 9 July at her remote bungalow in Haytor, Devon, with police believing she was attacked the previous day.
  • Kerry was arrested in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, and is accused of driving nearly 300 miles to carry out the attack, with his court appearance scheduled for tomorrow.
  • Police are investigating potential political or terrorist connections, with Counter Terrorism Policing confirming it was a "targeted attack" and the Home Secretary stating the suspect was not known to the Prevent scheme.
  • Ms Widdecombe had a long political career, serving as a Conservative MP and later as a spokesperson for Reform UK, also gaining fame through reality television appearances.
