A 24-year-old man has been charged after a woman was stabbed in a Highland village near the Kyle of Sutherland.
Emergency services were called to Carnmhor Road in Bonar Bridge on Thursday evening after reports of a disturbance.
Paramedics found the 50-year-old woman injured and she was then airlifted to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.
Two ambulances, an air ambulance and a trauma team attended the incident.
The man has been arrested and charged in connection, and is due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court on Monday, July 21.
Detective inspector Calum Reid said: “We understand that an incident like this can cause concern in a small local community. However, this is being treated as an isolated incident with no threat to the wider public.
“Officers remain in the area as part of our enquiries and anyone with concerns can approach them.”
An ambulance spokesperson said: “We received a call at 9.35pm on Thursday, July 17, to attend an incident on Carnmhor Road, Bonar Bridge.
“We dispatched two ambulances, an air ambulance, and a Prehospital Immediate Care and Trauma (PICT) team to the scene. We transported one patient to Raigmore Hospital by air ambulance.”
