Male rescued from River Aire in Leeds city centre

A male has been rescued by firefighters from the River Aire in Leeds city centre.

West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service received a report of a member of the public in the river near Brewery Place shortly before 5am this morning (Sunday).

The caller stayed on the line and gave exact information on where the male was in the river.

The male was successfully rescued by firefighters and transported to hospital by ambulance.

Crews from Leeds Fire Station and Hunslet Fire Station attended the incident.
