Veteran Malayalam actor Mammootty was conferred the Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian award, by President Droupadi Murmu at a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday.
The Padma Bhushan is awarded for "distinguished service of high order", and Mammootty's career spanning more than five decades and over 400 films across Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil and other Indian languages makes him one of Indian cinema's most celebrated figures.
