Major Scottish restaurant group unveils grand expansion plans

Ayrshire's biggest restaurant group has unveiled plans to expand one of their most popular venues.

Buzzworks have lodged grand proposals to extend its iconic Scotts venue at Largs Yacht Haven.

And hospitality bosses have cited the pandemic as part of the reason for the big changes.

A design statement reads: "On the experiences of the pandemic it has become clear that external / well ventilated areas are encouraged and popular. The challenge going forward is to make these spaces useable the whole year round.

"The proposal covers the external seating and garden areas with a permanent insulated roof with glazing to all external walls.

"This will create an ‘external’ garden room which is separate from the existing restaurant area. The external area will have the opportunity to open up south elevation via a series of folding / sliding glazed doors providing that external dining when the weather allows.

"It is necessary to then close the garden room during bad weather and the winter months to make sure the area is able to continue to generate income during these times and provide a comfortable space for customers."

Bosses also want to make existing external seating into more flexible restaurant areas and blueprints also include plans to overhaul the kitchen.

Proposals submitted to North Ayrshire Council will be ruled on at a future date.
