Major Nottingham road closed as statement issued on emergency work

A section of a road in Nottingham has been closed due to emergency roadworks after a gas leak.

Colwick Road, between Sneinton and Colwick, off the A612 Colwick Road, has been shut.

Nottingham City Transport buses are diverting as a result of the roadworks.

A spokesperson for Nottingham City Transport said: "Colwick Road has been closed due to a gas leak. Red 44 are unable to serve Sneinton Hermitage and Colwick Road, with buses using Daleside Road instead. Please make use of Red 43 where possible."

Cadent Cas crews are the scene.

The works are likely to go on until Friday, December 3, at 11.59pm.

There are also roadworks on nearby Racecourse Road, with delays "likely" for motorists.
