A major Manchester road was closed this Easter Monday morning (April 10, 2023) following a road crash, police have confirmed.
Princess Road, which connects Manchester city centre to south Manchester, the M60, and the M56, was shut by cops shortly before 10am today. It led to disruption on the city’s public transport network.
Now, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has confirmed that the road was closed due to a ‘non-serious, damage only road traffic collision’. The force did not confirm how many vehicles were involved, but it’s understood no serious injuries were reported.
The closure of the road prompted Stagecoach to divert the 101 and 103 bus services for a short period. The bus firm tweeted at 9:43am: “Due to a Police incident on Princess Road, services heading to outer destinations are diverting via Lloyd Street North, Upper Lloyd Street, Lloyd Street South and Platt Lane.
“Stops on Burlington Street, Greenheys Lane and Princess Road (up to Platt Lane) will not be served.”
Manchester Evening News photographers at the scene reported that there was little impact on traffic flows, likely due to the reduced amount of vehicles on the road on a bank holiday.
