Major disruption to Glasgow trains due to signalling fault at Central Station

There is major disruption to trains in and around Glasgow this evening due to a signalling fault at Central Station.

Several services due to travel between Central and East Kilbride, Kilmarnock, Cathcart Circle, Newton and Neilston have been affected, with many currently suspended.

Many trains have been delayed or cancelled and disruption is expected to last until at least 23:20pm this evening.

ScotRail say: "I'm afraid we've had to suspend our Cathcart Circle services. We're also reducing our Glasgow Central - East Kilbride, Kilmarnock, Newton & Neilston services to hourly due to the signal fault".

Network Rail are currently on site trying to rectify the issue and say: "We're at Glasgow Central, responding to a signal fault just outside the high-level station. Sorry for the disruption.

"We've identified the fault and working on a plan to fix now. Follow your train operator for info".

For all updates on the disruption, follow ScotRail on their social media channels, or visit the ScotRail website, HERE.
