Maharashtra: Ahmednagar police recover 17 stolen two-wheelers worth Rs 6.85 lakh

NASHIK: The Ahmednagar police arrested four persons and recovered 17 stolen two-wheelers worth Rs 6.85 lakh. The stolen vehicles were recovered from Ahmednagar and Aurangabad.

SP Manoj Patil had instructed all the subordinating police officials to focus on the incidents of vehicle theft in their respective jurisdictions. Thus, the local crime branch officials got information that a person named Shaikh Akil and his aide were coming towards Ahmednagar from the Aurangabad district with a stolen two-wheeler.

The informer said that if the police laid a trap right away, the burglars could be caught red-handed. Subsequently, the police laid a trap at a particular point on the Aurangabad Road following which the two suspects were spotted. When the police asked them to stop, the duo started escaping from the scene. However, the police chased them and detained them.

The suspects were identified as Akil Shaikh (49) and Shaikh Manjur Anis Ahmed (31), both residents of Bhavani Nagar, Aurangabad.

When the duo was questioned about the vehicle in their possession, they initially gave vague answers but eventually told the police that they had stolen the vehicle from near a bank in Ahmednagar.

When they were grilled further, the duo told the police that they had stolen some more two-wheelers from Ahmednagar and Aurangabad and given them to a person named Mukaram Mustafa Sayyad of Bhavani Nagar, Ahmednagar. When Sayyad was detained and interrogated, he gave the name of one more person Ayub Yakub Sayyad of Vilad, in Ahmednagar.

The police raided the house of Ayub Yakub Sayyad, who handed over the police 17 stolen motorcycles.

The police are investigating the case further.
