ORLANDO, Fla. _ The Orlando Magic forced the Phoenix Suns to overtime at Amway Center on Wednesday night, but they could only manage two points in the extra five minutes, losing for the fourth straight time as the Suns escaped with a 122-120 victory.
Orlando point guard D.J. Augustin, who scored 22 of his team-high 27 points in the second half, hit three free throws with 0.6 seconds left on the clock in regulation to send the game to overtime, but the Magic could not muster much offense in the extra session.
The Suns, who were led by Devin Booker's 35 points and 24 from T.J. Warren, weren't much better in overtime, but the extra basket was just enough for the victory. The Magic were 1 for 10 in the overtime.
Augustin scored 13 points in a third quarter that saw the Magic turn a nine-point halftime deficit into a 90-87 lead after three quarters.
Several different times the Magic appeared as if they were going to take control, but the Suns had other ideas. A 12-0 Phoenix run turned a 32-20 first-quarter Orlando lead into an early second-quarter deficit as the Magic found themselves trailing 62-53 at halftime.
Vucevic, who had scored a combined 27 points in the past two games after averaging 21 in the first 29 games, finally came to life in the third quarter as did Augustin. Vucevic and Augustin both had just five points apiece at halftime. Vucevic ended up with 22 points and 13 rebounds, while Terrence Ross had 18 points and Evan Fournier had 16.
