Madhya Pradesh schools shut till January 31 amid rising Covid cases

BHOPAL: Amid the spurt in Covid cases in the state, the Madhya Pradesh government has announced the closure of schools till January 31.

Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Friday, during a review meeting with the crisis management, announced that school classes from 1 to 12 would remain closed till January 31.

The home department immediately issued a notification stating that scheduled pre-board examinations from January 20 has been postponed and fresh instructions will be issued in this regard.

Sports activities also curbed in the state. According to the instructions, spectators entry has been banned in grounds and stadiums. With 50% strength of the players, sports activities are allowed to be conducted in the state.

An immediate ban has been imposed on fairs, public rallies and public gatherings.

The chief minister called up the review meeting with the crisis management committee after around 4,700 cases in the state, including over 1,000 reported in Bhopal on Thursday.
