Around 2am on Saturday, police found her scooter having blood stains parked in Indrapuri area while her body was found lying at Hathaikheda Dam around 7.30am.

Police officers said that the woman and her husband's mobile location was found together in the area and prima facie he died by suicide after slitting her throat. He had blood stains on his clothes and an injury on his thumb which probably might have inflicted while slitting the woman's throat with a knife.

Additional DCP Rajesh Bhadouria said that the deceased Anam Khan, 26, a resident of Ashoka Garden area, was an MBA graduate and worked at a private factory in Govindpura industrial area. She was married to the deceased Afzal Khan, 28, a resident of Subhash Colony in Ashoka Garden, in February 2021.

Afzal worked as a lathe machine operator. After a few months of marriage frequent disputes started taking place between the couple. The dispute aggravated for the past six months due to which Anam went to her parents' home around 20 days back. Afzal tried to counsel her to return but she refused.

Addl DCP Bhadouria said that on Friday Anam left home saying that she was going to the office but she took a leave. Around 7.30pm, she called her sister-in-law and told her that she was going to the petrol pump to refuel her scooter and would return home soon. When she did not return late till night her family members approached Ashoka Garden police and lodged a missing person's complaint.

Police shared information about the missing woman at all the police stations along with her scooter registration number. Around 2am, Piplani police found the abandoned scooter in Indrapuri area. There were blood spots on the scooter after which police started suspecting of any untoward incident with her. Police teams were searching for her and on Saturday morning around 7 am received information that Anam's body with her throat slit was lying at Hathaikheda Dam. Police reached the spot and identified the body with the help of her relatives. Police found Afzal's goggles and his ring at the spot.

Addl DCP Bhadouria said that meanwhile Ashoka Garden police got information around 9.15 pm that Afzal rushed home hurriedly and locked himself in a room where he hanged himself. The family members rushed him to hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Addl DCP Bhadouria said that Afzal was wearing a black dress but still blood stains were visible on his clothes. He had an injury in his thumb which was probably caused while stabbing his wife Anam. He said that on Friday Afzal was with Anam and he took her to Hathaikheda Dam area which was near Anam's MBA college. He slit her throat with a knife and then hurried back home where he hanged himself.

Addl DCP Bhadouria said that prima facie it is suspected that Afzal murdered Anam and then killed himself. Technical evidence and the blood stains prove it but still police were investigating the case from all angles.
