Made in Manchester - Phoebe Green

WHO IS SHE?

A Manchester-based singer who delivered one of the standout performances at Neighbourhood Festival last weekend.

In front of a packed audience at Deaf Institute, Lancashire-born Phoebe Green performed a majestic, hypnotic set of dreamy indie-pop – just the sort of performance that suggests she'll be one of Manc music's brightest hopes for 2020.

Cheekily describing herself as "the Shirley Temple of the north", 22-year-old Green has already signed to Chess Club Records, received Radio 1 support and warmed up for the likes of Swim Deep and Sundara Karma on tour.

Her sound – a synth-fuelled confection of indie-folk and dream-pop – might be a familiar one, but it's rarely been delivered with quite as much cinematic scope.

Stunning debut single Dreaming Of, produced by Alex Robertshaw from Manc faves Everything Everything, combines sharp lyrical acuity ( You make me feel like I’m anyone/Does it make you feel less insecure ?) with a stirring, slow-burning sound that's one-part David Lynch-noir Americana, another part Mancunian melancholy.

We can’t wait to see where she leads us next.

FOR FANS OF
