'Made in Manchester' - Man United fans laud Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes after Portugal win

Manchester United fans have praised Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot for their impressive performances in Portugal's friendly win over Nigeria on Thursday night.

Fernandes scored two goals, one of which was assisted by Dalot, as Portugal defeated Nigeria 4-0 in their final World Cup warm-up match.

Cristiano Ronaldo missed the clash due to a stomach bug after sitting out United’s final two fixtures before the break due to illness. It means he will not have played for two-and-a-half weeks ahead of Portugal’s World Cup group opener against Ghana on November 24.

The team did not look fazed by his absence against Nigeria, with Fernandes directing home Dalot’s pull-back after just nine minutes. He doubled the advantage from the spot on 35 minutes before Matias Ramos and Joao Mario secured the win in the closing stages.

United supporters were quick to praise the Reds duo for their performance on Thursday night. Here is how some fans reacted to Fernandes and Dalot's showings...

Earlier this week, Benfica star Mario cooled speculation of a rift between Ronaldo and Fernandes amid the former’s explosive interview with Piers Morgan, after the United pair’s awkward-looking greeting. "I was in the locker room at that moment, I saw the pictures,” Mario said.

“It was a joke between them. Bruno Fernandes was one of the last to arrive. Cristiano asked, 'Did you come by boat?'” Fernandes himself later took to Instagram, reposting a video from Mario’s press conference, writing: "Oh Joao Mario, there you are ruining the covers of the newspapers".

United sources told the Manchester Evening News that Fernandes’ flight over to Portugal had been delayed and thus he looked weary when he joined up with the squad. They also revealed that most of the United players see no way back for Ronaldo at Old Trafford.
