WHO IS SHE?

The Manchester musician most likely to feature on your summer playlists. That’s certainly the conclusion formed upon hearing Izzi Naimski’s excellent new debut single, Sister, the sort of buoyant, effervescent indie-pop song designed to soundtrack lazy afternoons in the sun. Naimski – raised in the Lake District and now honing her skills at Manchester’s endlessly productive BIMM college – has a real gift for squeezing a plethora of ideas, moods and techniques into what, on the surface, seems like a simple four-minute pop song. An arresting hybrid of Warpaint atmospherics, skittering reggae grooves and glossy pop-rock melodies as strong as those on Haim’s debut album, the Manc starlet’s music is both clever and instantly accessible. As Britain basks in the first rays of summer sun, Izzi Naimski is here to provide the perfect soundtrack.
