The ongoing tension between rappers Travis Scott and Pusha T has reached new heights with Scott’s latest release, Jackboys 2, which came out on Sunday, July 13. The compilation album, featuring various artists from Scott’s Cactus Jack Records label, includes what appears to be a response to Pusha T’s recent criticisms.
The conflict began when Pusha T targeted Scott on Clipse’s new album Let God Sort Em Out, particularly in the song So Be It. While Pusha T didn’t directly name Scott in his lyrics, he later confirmed in interviews that his words were aimed at the Utopia rapper.
On Scott’s new track Champain & Vacay, the 34-year-old rapper seems to fire back at Pusha T with the lyrics “Yeah, man, I swear these old n—– kill me / Know my YNs feel me / They just want the real me, yeah / Blue Bugatti, I’m dodgin’ TMZ / Made a hundred off pushin’ T’s / Now my phone on DND, yeah.”

The dispute can be traced back to Scott’s 2023 album Utopia, specifically the track Meltdown featuring Drake, from an album loaded with guest stars that became a major commercial success. According to Pusha T’s interview with GQ, Scott had played the album for him and Pharrell in Paris but deliberately left out Drake’s verse, which contained disses aimed at both Pusha T and Pharrell.

Dissing Travis to get some clout for his album
Pusha T, 48, expressed his disappointment with Scott’s behavior in several interviews, adding to Scott’s history of controversial moments that have followed him throughout his career. Speaking to GQ, he described Scott’s actions as showing “no picks, no loyalty to anybody” and called him “harmless.” In a particularly harsh criticism, Pusha T recalled how Scott was “smiling, laughing, jumping around, doing his monkey dance” during the Paris studio session.
The situation escalated further when Pusha T appeared on The New York Times’ Popcast, where he labeled Scott’s decision to play the song without Drake’s verse as “corny.” He added, “You shouldn’t have been here anyway… He’s harmless. I’m not into his whole makeup.”
Jackboys 2 marks Scott’s first label compilation album since 2019’s Jackboys. The new release features collaborations with various artists, including Bun B, Future, GloRilla, and Playboi Carti. Scott promoted the album on social media platform X, stating, “THIS ALBUM IS FOR ALL SEASONS BUT WAS MADE FOR EVERY SUMMER THAT COMES.”
