'Maddison who?' - Arsenal fans in awe of what Martin Odegaard did vs Burnley

Arsenal went into half-time during their must-win clash against Burnley 1-0 up.

The Gunners took the lead through Norway captain Martin Odegaard, who scored a sublime free-kick in the 30th minute after Bukayo Saka was fouled on the edge of the box.

Arsenal went into the game sitting 16th in the table, desperate for their first Premier League away win of the season.

The Gunners lost all of their opening three league fixtures, losing out to newly-promoted Brentford and London rivals Chelsea 2-0 before receiving a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of reigning league champions Manchester City.

However, the international break provided some much-needed respite for Mikel Arteta's side as they won their first game back, defeating Norwich City 1-0 last weekend courtesy of a goal from club captain Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang.

Now, Odegaard provided a much-needed piece of magic at Turf Moor, curling the ball into the top corner past a helpless Nick Pope in between the sticks.

It is the first goal that the 22-year-old has scored since completing a permanent move from Real Madrid last month, having spent the second half of last season on loan at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners had also been linked with Leicester City playmaker James Maddison during the summer transfer window, although, technical director Edu opted to sign Odegaard instead.

Following the goal, Arsenal supporters took to social media to voice their support for the Norwegian. Here is how a select few on Twitter reacted.

@GunnerMiguel: "Odegaard!! Proving the doubters wrong. That’s what we want to see."

@PhataiDayo: "Odegaard is miles ahead of Pogba."

@SaIibinho: "I told u lot Odegaard would be better than Maddison."

@B_magnifico8: "Odegaard that was pure class."

@yunghadrawi: "Odegaard by far our most talented youngster."

@grimptinho: "Maddison who??"
