Police closed a M5 slip road until just after midnight following a crash involving a motorcyclist.
The incident happened at junction 19 for Portishead near to Gordano services shortly after 7pm on Tuesday (September 10) and initially it was thought the road would remain closed until morning.
Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene on the northbound side of the motorway.
Emergency crews closed the north entry slip road while they investigated the scene.

Motorists hoping to enter the motorway from Portishead were advised to follow diversion signs which will lead them on to the M5 at Clevedon's junction.
A spokeswoman for South Western Ambulance Service told Bristol Live: "We were called at 7:09pm to the slip road of th M5 J19 to reports of a RTC involving a motorcyclist.
"The incident has now been handed over to the police."
A Highways England spokesperson said: "#M5 J18 #Avonmouth There is no access to the #M5 Southbound from the #A4.
"Traffic intending to head south to use the #M49 Northbound, turn around at J22 #M4 and return via the #M49 Southbound. The road is due to reopen at 6am."
However in an update on social media - Highways England posted at 12.33am stating the road had reopened and thanking motorists for their patience.
The tweet from @HighwaysSWEST states: "Update: #M5 J19 Northbound entry slip has re-opened following @ASPolice investigation. Thank you for your patience."
