M4 crash: Girl, 3, dies and boy, 4, left fighting for life after horror smash

A three-year-old girl has died and a four-year-old boy is fighting for his life in hospital after a crash on the M4.

The girl who passed away in the smash near Newport, Wales, on Saturday has been named as Gracie-Ann Wheaton.

A GoFundMe page set up to help pay for her funeral said she passed away due to her injuries, while her brother is intensive care.

Four people were rushed to hospital following the horror crash, which happened at around 1.45pm on Saturday, Wales Online reports.

The GoFundMe page says: "On Saturday 5th February 2022, Gracie-Ann was returning home from a birthday party, alongside her mother, her step-father and her brother.

"At around 2PM, Gracie-Ann and her family were involved in a serious car accident, which led to Gracie-Ann, and her brother, being rushed into intensive care due to the injuries they have both sustained.

"Gracie-Ann, being the worst affected, had suffered a stroke and later on, a cardiac arrest. At approximately 5am, on Sunday morning, Gracie-Ann had passed away due to the severity of her injuries.

Gwent Police said the incident involved a car and a van on the M4 westbound, between junction 28 and 29.

Great uncle Darren Lucas, from Abergavenny, said that close family are at Jayden's bedside.

He told Wales Online: "We are a very close family and we are all devastated and heartbroken. We just can't take it in and have set up a fundraising page just to help the family out in some way.

"The family are with Jayden who is still undergoing intensive care and is very unwell. We are all sending our prayers."

"Gracie-Ann's brother is still undergoing intensive care and is very unwell. We are all sending our prayers."
