M3 car fire tackled by NIFRS

A vehicle went on fire on the M3 close to Belfast city centre earlier.

The car went up in flames at the flyover near Yorkgate in North Belfast .

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service sent two appliances to the scene.

They received a call to the incident at around 1.55pm. It is understood the people in the vehicle manage to escape uninjured.

The PSNI has not yet said if the road will be closed or not, however a tweet from TrafficwatchNI indicated traffic is down to one lane at the scene. The police later released an image of the burnt out shell of the vehicle.
