M&S blasted for £8 jigsaw of the UK that offends 'absolutely everyone'

Marks and Spencer has been slammed for "forgetting Wales is a country" in a new jigsaw of the British Isles.

The department store released a new £8 puzzle of the United Kingdom and Ireland, but included Wales as part of England.

The 500-piece jigsaw map also controversially shows a united Ireland.

Welsh Councillor Jamie Evans spotted the puzzle while doing some Christmas shopping.

He said: "I was in Marks and Spencer doing some last minute Christmas shopping and saw it on the shelf.

"I had to look twice. They've managed to offend everyone!"

"Scotland is clearly a different country, Ireland is clearly a different country - which may upset the Unionists.

"And then they've put Wales in with England."

Jamie joked that it could be predicting the future with a "post-Brexit map of Britain".

"They're saying Wales isn't a country anymore and we've been shoved onto the side of England," he said.

Jamie, a Plaid Cymru councillor in Neath, said it's not the first time the store had forgot about Wales.

He hit out: "During the 2016 European football championships, which Wales were in, M&S put up posters urging people to support England.

"We're used to it in Wales now, being subjected to that nonsense.

"It shouldn't happen but it does.

"Marks and Spencer needs to recognise that Wales actually exists as a country.

"They've managed to offend absolutely everyone with one go, with this jigsaw."

Jamie tweeted the department store in Welsh, asking why his home country had become part of England.

Dozens of people backed the councillor and demanded M&S remove the insulting puzzle immediately.

Helibore Jinx said: "Awful! This should never have been accepted by Marks and Spencer for sale in the first place.

"Wrong on so many levels. Please remove from store."

Georgina Taubman blasted: "Aside from the lack of respect afforded to the nation of Wales - sort it out M&S - this has got to be the most boring jigsaw in the history of time.

"Who thought it was a good idea!?"

Pat Hughes added: "£8 to solve the Irish border issue. Bargain."

A Marks and Spencer spokesman said: "This is a historical map of the British Isles from the late 1800s taken from the Trousset encyclopedia."
