Lyra McKee murder probe sees fresh arrest as house in Derry being search by PSNI

A man has been arrested over the killing of journalist Lyra McKee.

Authorities in Northern Ireland are also carrying out a search at a property in Derry in connection with the murder probe.

The search is being conducted following the arrest of a 27-year-old man who is being quizzed over the death of Ms McKee who was gunned down in April 2019.

A PSNI spokesman said: “Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team, investigating the murder of journalist Lyra McKee, have arrested a 27 year old man in Derry this morning under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

“He has been taken to Musgrave police station in Belfast where he is currently being questioned.

"A search of a house in Derry has also been conducted.”

The move comes after the PSNI recently revealed they had  found the gun  used to kill the McKee.
