Lynsey Bennett shares positive cancer treatment update and opens up on big 'decision'

Lynsey Bennett has shared some positive news about her cancer treatment.

The mother of two travelled to Mexico earlier this year to undergo four weeks of intensive treatment after being diagnosed with invasive cervical cancer four years ago.

The Longford woman took to Instagram to share the decisions she made that were right for her on her treatment journey.

On Instagram, she wrote: “Thankfully starting to be happy about my results, today marks 10 months since I made the best decisions on my journey, first one being that I wanted to be here and be as normal for my girls as I could, and so I turned down the lethal dose of chemo, and after 3 months of being kept from Pembro, I boarded a flight to Mexico.

“I had shrinkage which I can fully thank @hope4cancermexico for that as I was told on Thursday that the immunotherapy in Ireland will never shrink my cancer, [the] only hope is that it will hold it for a while, and there was only 15% chance of happening and so far so good after 4 months it’s still stable.

“I need to get back into proper routine of getting time for all my machines and coffee enemas etc.

“I know I need a home help or someone willing to pop in for a hour to help set up all and get me through them. Now that [the] house is done and girlies are back to school.

“Blown away by all the messages I [get] off people wanting to check in about my results and how they have been sitting and waiting YOU ARE AMAZING, am too lucky to have you all.”

Earlier this year, Lynsey settled her High Court case against the HSE and the laboratory involved in her missed cancer diagnosis.

Lynsey was diagnosed with cervical cancer in January 2017 after several smear tests failed to detect the disease.

Delighted to share some good news with her followers, the 32-year-old said on Twitter: “10 months since diagnosed yesterday, and I am still here living “as normal a life as possibly” after putting my foot down about no chemo cancer is still stable #ididitmyway”.

“Mexico thank you for my shrinkage as I was informed Thursday pembro will never be able to do that”.

She added: “And thank you Pembro keeping cancer stable, especially while I can’t fly with clots… I was told only 15% chance of helping and that chemo needed to be done first lucky am the kind girl who isn’t scared fo take the risk and take that road less travelled”.
