Lynch mob drag 'serial rapist' out of home, tie him to post and beat him

A man accused of being a serial rapist and armed robber was attacked by a lynch mob who pulled him out of his home.

The 35-year-old was tied to a post and beaten after reports of him raping three women.

He is also accused of following children with a knife in his hand, as well as carrying out a robbery, in the city of Arkhangelsk in north-western Russian.

In the footage, the tied-up suspect denies the angry mob's allegations.

Reports say three residents broke into the man's flat and dragged him outside.

The alleged rapist was then taken to the city centre on the bonnet of a car, he was beaten up by an angry
mob, before he was tied up against a lamppost with a rope.

Local media said that some mob members were later arrested and taken to the police station, but all denied involvement.

Although they told officers that someone had to "take care of a maniac who has committed a number of crimes".

According to reports, the police have launched an investigation into the lynch mob's actions.

It is currently unclear whether they are looking into the residents' allegations against the 35-year-old man.
