Lydia Bright turns to Instagram for parenting advice after realising trolls were right

Lydia Bright has started turning to Instagram for parenting advice after realising that trolls were right to criticise her about potty training.

The former TOWIE star was bombarded with criticism after revealing on social media that she was attempting to get her 18-month-old daughter Loretta out of nappies and onto the potty.

Lydia, 31, says that after reading through the comments left by trolls on her Instagram posts, she actually realised they were making a good point.

Some people online had told Lydia, who shares her daughter with ex Lee Cronin, that she was trying to potty train Loretta too early.

And when she realised her little girl was scared of the potty, she considered what people had been saying to her.

She told The Sun : "I think I wanted to potty train when Loretta was 18 months but I tried it and she was scared of the potty. In the end I went on and said actually you guys are right."

The NHS recommends potty training from 18 to 30 months but it also depends when the child is ready - and it can be easier to start in the summer months when less clothes need to be worn and washed.

Lydia said she'd also realised that she shouldn't compare her daughter to other children.

She gave birth to Loretta around the same time that pal Lucy Mecklenburgh welcomed son Roman with Ryan Thomas, but the two children are very different.

She added: "Loretta is quite advanced for her age. I think people compare with talking, that is the milestone people are most excited [about]. I do try to be conscious, I will write stuff saying every child is different.

"Loretta is a very advanced speaker but she still has bottles. I can't get her onto beakers. If I try anything else she gets really distressed.

"For example Roman is on the potty and does wees and pees, Loretta is still in nappies. Different children are advanced in different elements."

Since welcoming her baby, Lydia has taken a very honest approach to social media, sharing the ups and downs of parenting with her followers.

She's also admitted that life as a single mum can be a bit "overwhelming".

Opening up to her fans in a Q&A, she said: "It’s a big responsibility and at times overwhelming.

"Juggling being a full-time mum and working full time. But I am so proud of myself. Raising Loretta is my greatest ever achievement."
