This weekend sees the inaugural visit of a new cruise ship to the Liverpool terminal.
The MS Amera is owned by the German operator Phoenix Reisen, and is currently on a 14-day round trip which started from Bremen on July 22. It's making various stops around the British Isles before returning to Bremen on August 5.
The vessel is due to arrive at the city's cruise terminal at around 6pm today (Saturday), and will leave at around 2pm the next day to sail to Cork.

The 38,000-ton, 800-passenger ship originally entered service as the Royal Viking Sun in 1988. She later sailed as the Seabourn Sun before becoming the Prinsendam in 2002.
In 2019 ownership of the ship was transferred to Phoenix Risen where it subsequently underwent a six-week renovation in Hamburg and was re-named Amera.
On its website, Phoenix Reisen says the Amera exudes "a particularly high feel-good factor", adding: "The great feeling of space and the noticeable proximity to the water are the great strengths of this elegant liner."
