Luke Shaw details huge impact Zlatan Ibrahimovic had on Man Utd dressing room

Luke Shaw has described how 'born winner' Zlatan Ibrahimovic used to 'kill players' in training if they were not pulling their weight.

The Swedish striker spent a little over 18months at Old Trafford and proved his worth with some crucial goals.

Ibrahimovic was already in the tail end of his career when he arrived at United, but his hunger for success was no less evident.

United went on to win three trophies in Ibrahimovic's only full season with the club, and Shaw believes the veteran had a huge impact on his fellow players.

"He was mad," Shaw said on a Combat Corona Twitch FIFA competion. "I think he was what we needed in the dressing room.

"He’s unbelievable, he still had the talent and even though he was a bit older he was still the amazing player that he had been.

"But I think inside the dressing room he was great. He had a lot of jokes but I think when it got serious, and when he had to sort of put his foot down, you knew about it."

Ibrahimovic's crowning moment at United came in the 2017 League Cup final, where he bagged a brace, including a late winner.

But his spell at United did not end as he would have hoped, after suffering a serious knee injury that kept him out of the Europa League final victory.

His injury threatened to put an end to his career, but after making a swift recovery he went on to be a hit in the MLS before making an emotional return to AC Milan - which has been no surprise to Shaw.

"I think he was a born winner," he added. "Even in little training games, if he didn’t win and you were on his team he would absolutely kill you.

"So I think he got the best out of everyone when he was there, as in training-wise, because people couldn’t sort of [slack] off kind of because if you’re on his team and you lose, you’re dead.

"And honestly you can ask anyone in the team, that was the situation. But I think everyone loved him and it was just disappointing that he got that bad injury."
