Lukasz Machalski: Body found in Edinburgh quarry identified as local missing man

Police in Edinburgh have identified the body discovered in Granton earlier today (January 4).

Officers have confirmed the person found was Lukasz Machalski, a 26-year-old man who had been missing since last month.

On Monday morning, emergency crews were called to the quarry next to West Granton Road, where a body was found in the water.

Although formal identification is still to take place, today Police Scotland issued a statement in which they stated their beliefs that the person is Lukasz.
