Luis Suarez sends message to Liverpool over Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe

Anfield old boy Luis Suarez has given his verdict on two Liverpool-linked strikers by declaring that he believes Erling Haaland is better than Kylian Mbappe.

Both players have been the subject of speculation regarding potential moves to Jurgen Klopp's side as a couple of European football’s hottest properties.

The prolific pair have both broken the 30-goal barrier for the second consecutive season with 20-year-old Haaland netting 33 times so far this term for Borussia Dortmund and 22-year-old Mbappe grabbing 30 for Paris Saint-Germain.

Suarez, who reached 500 career goals for club and country by grabbing La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid’s winner at home to Alaves on Sunday, assessed the two players’ merits.

And it led to him making a choice between Haaland and Mbappe.

The 34-year-old Uruguayan, who scored 82 goals in 133 games for Liverpool, is quoted by beIN Sports as telling Gerard Romero on Twitch: “Haaland is a great player, he's at a spectacular level, he has an admirable physical strength.

“He's one of the best number nines in the world and will define an era.

“I'm a bit more in favour of Haaland, but Mbappe is at a great level.”

It remains to be seen whether Mbappe will sign a new PSG deal or look to move elsewhere, while Haaland recently addressed his future.

"I still have three years of contract. I am not upset about that," Haaland was quoted as saying by Spanish news outlet Cope.
