Luis Suarez dismisses Lionel Messi reunion at Inter Miami rumours

Luis Suarez has dismissed suggestions he could reunited with fellow former Barcelona team-mate Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.

Argentinian icon Messi stunned the football world by announcing his impending move to MLS to join David Beckham's franchise in a move that ranks as one of the most significant landmarks in the history of the sport stateside. The Floridan club beat off interest from the World Cup winner's former employers Barcelona as well as a lucrative offer from Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal to land his signature.

After a glittering career in Europe which brought him a monumental 42 trophies, the chance to play in the South Beach city where he already owns a property proved too hard to resist. The Herons' transfer business may not end there, however, with TyC Sports having reported that the 35-year-old could be joined by some of his former Camp Nou teammates.

According to them, the powers-that-be at the Sunshine State franchise were targeting Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Luis Suarez, in the hope that chance of a reunion with their ex-teammate would prove attractive. In the case of the former two players, they have both departed the Blaugrana this summer after a combined 25 years at the club.

The trio most notably played alongside Messi the last time Barcelona won the Champions League back in 2015. In addition to this, the Argentinian ace experienced one of the most fruitful spells of his career alongside Suarez, with the duo having notched an implausible 406 times between them at the Camp Nou.

But Suarez seemingly has no intent of heading to MLS, as he stated to El Observador: "This is false, it is impossible. I am very happy at Gremio and I have a contract until 2024."

After an emotional return to boyhood club Nacional in his homeland, the 36-year-old has moved to Gremio at the turn of the year, and clearly has no desire of leaving.

Perhaps reunion could be waiting further down the line, though, with Suarez having admitted last year that he was considering the possibility of a move to the US, prior to his move to Gremio. In a conversation with Marca, he said: "It's one of the options that I see as being most likely, but I'm not thinking about that right now."

Intriguingly, Inter Miami has also been linked with Messi's international teammate Angel di Maria in recent days, as per the Daily Mail, with Antoine Griezmann also having previously expressed his desire to move stateside at some point in an interview with L'Equipe (via FourFourTwo). One senses this may not be a quiet summer at the DRV PNK Stadium.
