Luis Miguel is reportedly recovering in New York after undergoing a delicate heart-related surgery, according to Spanish magazine Semana, reviving concern around the intensely private Mexican superstar after weeks of conflicting reports about his health.
The 56-year-old singer, known as "El Sol de México," has been hospitalized for about two weeks at Mount Sinai in New York, according to publication, which cited sources close to the artist. The magazine reported that his recovery is "plenamente favorable" and that there are no current complications preventing his discharge once doctors approve it.
The report follows earlier claims from entertainment influencer Jacqueline Martínez, known as Chamonic, who said in May that Luis Miguel had felt unwell and was taken for a medical review by his partner, Spanish designer Paloma Cuevas. According to Chamonic's version, doctors allegedly detected a heart problem. Univision's El Gordo y La Flaca later reported that the singer had been admitted in New York on May 11 and was accompanied by Cuevas and an assistant.
Paloma Cuevas has reportedly remained close to him during the medical episode. The Spanish designer and Luis Miguel have been romantically linked since 2022, after years of friendship, and have been photographed together in Madrid, New York and other cities.
So far, neither Luis Miguel nor his official team has publicly confirmed the surgery or issued a medical statement. That silence has left fans navigating competing versions. In May, people close to the singer told HOLA! USA that hospitalization rumors were "completely false" and insisted he was in good health.
It is also unclear whether his three children have visited him. Luis Miguel is the father of Michelle Salas, his daughter with Stephanie Salas, and Miguel and Daniel, his sons with actress Aracely Arámbula. Publicly, there has been no confirmed report that any of them have seen him at the hospital.
The health concern comes after a demanding comeback period for the singer. His 2023-2024 tour became one of the most successful Latin tours in history, but it was also marked by health-related interruptions. In October 2024, Luis Miguel postponed several concerts in Mexico, including shows in Mexico City, after reports that he was dealing with pneumonia and other health issues.
For now, the most cautious reading is this: Semana says Luis Miguel is hospitalized and recovering favorably after a heart procedure; Chamonic had reported heart concerns earlier; his team previously denied hospitalization rumors; and there is still no official statement from the singer himself.
Until that confirmation comes, the mystery around "El Sol" remains very Luis Miguel: high drama, maximum privacy, and millions of fans reading between every note.
