Alleged corporate assassin Luigi Mangione's supposed plans for evading justice were revealed in court during testimony in pre-trial hearings this week.
Mangione, 27, faces state and federal murder charges for allegedly gunning down UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson last December while he walked to a meeting in Manhattan. Mangione has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
PEOPLE reported that, according to prosecutors, Mangione was carrying a to-do list that provided steps to evade law enforcement when he was arrested.
According to PEOPLE, Mangione had a bus ticket to Pittsburgh under a false name. The checklist included a hand-drawn list of the city, a reminder to check for "red eyes" out of the city, and to either the Columbus or Cincinnati area.
PEOPLE reported that the list included a plan to break "CAM continuity," to prevent law enforcement from tracking his movements.
The list was disclosed during a court hearing this week during testimony from police officer Christy Wasser. Wasser searched Mangione's backpack after his arrest at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
Previously on Monday, the defense team challenged much of the evidence gleaned from Mangione's initial arrested. Defense attorney's alleged that officers searched Mangione's backpack without a warrant and questioned him for 20 minutes before reading him his rights.
The backpack contained a 9 mm handgun and a diary prosecutors describe as a manifesto, in which Mangione allegedly expressed his intent to kill a healthcare executive and praised 'Unabomber' Ted Kaczynski.
If convicted of the most serious charges filed against him, Mangione could potentially face the death penalty.
