Lucy Fallon sets record straight after joking about holidaying in Dubai for new year

Former Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon has set the record straight after joking that she was in Dubai for new year.

Lucy, who played Bethany Platt in Corrie, had a little dig at celebs making headlines for partying in the Middle East while most of us Brits are having to stay at home during the coronavirus pandemic.

The 25-year-old actress poked fun by sharing some photos of a trip to the beach on her Instagram.

"Can't believe I'm in Dubai for 2021 xxx" she mocked.

But she ended up having to explain that she really was in the Lancashire seaside town of Fleetwood, near her home town of Cleveleys, after coming under fire for the post.

One follower, thinking she was sunning herself in the United Arab Emirates, told her: "Good to see ya living life on holidays where people at home can't pay bills. Good for you."

And Lucy shared the terse message with the words: "Honestly pls someone help me."

She wrote in another post to address the matter: "Just in case ppl didn't realise I'm not actually in Dubai.

"Turns out Fleetwood really does look like Dubai after all."

The star then shared another photo of Fleetwood and a picture of Dubai.

"This," she pointed out.

"Is not the same as this."

At the end of last year Lucy was one of 12 celebs rowing the entire length of Britain on the ITV celeb challenge show Don't Rock The Boat which saw famous faces step out of their comfort zones and onto their sea legs.

Lucy left Corrie after five years last year.

Her character waved goodbye to Weatherfield to start a new life in London after realising her boyfriend Daniel Osbourne wasn't over the death of his wife Sinead.

The soap star won British Soap Awards for Best Actress and Best Female Dramatic Performance, an Inside Soap Award for Best Actress and a National Television Award for Serial Drama Performance for her role as Bethany.

She starred in a harrowing and awareness-raising grooming storyline which saw the teenager abused by Nathan Curtis who posed as her boyfriend.
