Lucknow Municipal Corporation to provide 2 lakh national flags for all 110 wards

LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) will provide two lakh national flags to all the 110 corportors who will make arrangements for distributing it in houses falling in their respective wards.

These flags will be put up on every house under the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign under 'Azadi Ka Amrit Utsav'.

The direction was given by Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia during a meeting at LMC headquarters on Saturday called to draw the plan for massive celebrations. The mayor herself will hoist the national flag at historic Jhandewala Park in Aminabad, besides all the LMC offices.

It was also decided that all major crossings and markets of the city will be decorated. LMC officials have been asked to coordinate with various traders associations and non-government and social organisations in this regard. People who are not able to get the flag can contact any zonal office of the LMC. "Entire country will celebrate 75th anniversary of independence from August 11-17. This is a special occasion for all of us," the mayor said. She added that every officer, employee and corporator of the LMC will have to work as a volunteer to make the campaign a mass movement.
