LUCKNOW: In his death, Pradeeep Vishwakarma has given life to three persons and gifted vision to another two. The 39-year-old electrical engineer, a resident of Eldeco-II, got critically injured in a road accident near Dubagga on Wednesday night after a nilgai rammed into his two-wheeler.
He was rushed to a private hospital on Hardoi road, and from there, referred to KGMU where he passed away on Saturday.
It was a tough call for the Vishwakarmas as they were yet to come to terms with the tragedy that had flipped their world upside down. He was sole breadwinner of the family.
His wife Rajani, who had slipped into depression after the accident, was informed about the death later. His two kids - Pranchal, 13, and Pari, 6 - were still grappling with the shock.
The consent was signed by his elder brother Hriday Prakash, who remembered a line Pradeep would often quote: "Body belongs to soil and the soul to God, we come on the earth with only purpose to serve."
Pradeep's nephew Kuldeep told TOI, "Our family is devastated. But we agreed to fulfil my uncle's wish to serve humanity. We believe that he has become immortal."
After the family's consent, KGMU doctors ensured that organs gave life to three persons and eyesight to two others.
